On September 30th Pope Francis announced the date of the canonizations of Popes John Paul II and John XXIII as Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27, 2014. Here at Saint Gemma's Catholic Pilgrimages, we have prepared a pilgrimage for this very special event.

On April 25th we depart for a 5 day stay in Rome for the canonization and visits to the major basilicas of the Eternal City. Then, on April 30th we will travel to the holy city of Assisi where we will pray at the tombs' of St. Francis and St. Claire. We will spend two nights in Assisi before returning home to the United States.

On this 8 day pilgrimage, some of our pilgirms will spend 5 days in Rome with the Brigidine Sisters at the beautiful House of St. Bridget, centrally located in historical Rome and a 15 minute walk to the Vatican. Due to the huge response to this pilgrimage, most of the rooms at the House of St. Bridget are sold out.

We have booked additional rooms the Hotel Prati. This hotel is just over a half mile from St. Peter's square where the canonization will take place - about an 8 minute walk. Because of this location, those staying here will have a greater chance of being even closer to the front of St. Peter's Basilica during the canonization on April 27th. Your pilgrimage fee includes:

-Your flight.

We will arrange your flight from anywhere in the United States or Canada. Flights out of any major city in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States are covered with our regular pilgrimage fee, including Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Miami, FL; New York; Buffalo; Boston; Charleston; Cleveland; Washington, DC; Atlanta; Portland, ME; and many more. Additional charges may apply if your city of departure is further west or from Canada. All prices are in US dollars. Email us if you want to check the price for your city.

-Airport Shuttle

-Metro and Bus Pass for all of Rome.

Terms and Conditions

After you register online (see link above) send a $300 deposit (per person) to Catholic Pilgrimages, LLC, P.O. Box 128, Spring Brook, NY 14140. We will hold your spot for 7 full days upon receipt of your email registration. If your deposit is not received by the 7th day, you could loose your spot.

There are a limited number of spots available. If all the spots are taken before your deposit arrives, it will be returned to you. If a spot opens up, you will be contacted.

This is a walking pilgrimage.

If you don't have a valid passport, get one right after you send in your deposit. Passports can take 60 to 90 days. Check with your post office about expedited passports if needed.

A late fee of 5% of the total fee is charged for any payments received after the due date. A reservation may be canceled and deposit forfeited if full payment is not received on time.

Once you reserve your spot and we receive your deposit, you will receive a pilgrim packet with more details on the trip including what to bring, what not to bring and what to expect.

To keep our prices low all our fees are based on cash payments. If you wish to pay by credit card a 3% service charge will apply.
